In the film you see how Sina and Johann create a model garden.
Can you do that too?
Where is this possible for you: in the schoolyard, at home, on the balcony, with neighbors or friends, in your family’s garden, at a community volunteer project? You can find out from the Association of Garden and Landscape Builders which company in your area can support and advise you on your project or perhaps even contribute materials.
Task:
If you know how big your model garden is and what shape the area has, first make a sketch of what you want it to look like in the end.
Decide which of the following elements are important to you: boundary or fence, wall or paving, plants of different heights, grass area or ground cover. Your leader and companion plants, but also the ground cover, should match in terms of the care required and what they need in terms of nutrients and environmental conditions.
Research which plants complement each other well. For example, ask in a hardware store, in your family, with your neighbors, in a garden center or research online.
Using everything you’ve learned, create a long-term plan to best care for the plants.
When your model garden is finished, you can also send us some photos. We would be happy to publish them in our digital exhibition.
